Was it the weather or a need for a refresher course? Something brought 27 rigs and 49 people out to Cline Ranch for a SAJE only run. Gates opened at 9 a.m. and 15 rigs headed out for the trails. They returned at noon to join newly arrived members for a club provided sandwich lunch, sharing adventures from the morning run. After lunch, the first SAJE Jeep 101 began. Jack and experienced trail guides (Geoff, Larry, Artie, Mike Z., Mike B., TJ, Robert and Val) presented information and tips for making each off-road run safe and enjoyable. A list of what to carry in your rig was passed out suggesting items you will probably need sometime in your off-road future.
After Jeep 101 we split into 2 groups, those wanting to run with continuing education and those having more confidence to go on their own. Not long after heading out we had an on-the-trail example of some of the items you need in your Jeep. JB smashed a metal valve stem and learned he needed a deeper socket for his lug nuts, a high lift jack, a chain and spare valve stems. As usual, the necessary tools were provided and the spare was on the ground and ready to roll. By late afternoon the threatening clouds and wind told us it was time to head home.
It was great to be out in the sunshine and on the trail again.
